Interdisciplinary performance

“ALPHONSO LINGIS | CONTACT” – interdisciplinary performance exploring passions, emotions, and extreme human experiences through the ideas of Lithuanian-American philosopher Alphonso Lingis (1933–2025), particularly those developed in his book “Dangerous Emotions”.

The three media function as equal layers of the performance. Music performed by Bottlenecks / Susigrūdimai transforms Lingis’ philosophical insights into a sonic experience, the documentary film reveals aspects of the philosopher’s life and everyday world, while hand shadow theatre visualises the multilayered and ephemeral nature of human experience. Sound, image, and movement come together in a unified stage form.

Alphonso Lingis was a renowned Lithuanian-American philosopher and interpreter of phenomenology and existentialism whose work explored passions and emotions, community, and our relationship with the Other.

Artists

Bottlenecks / Susigrūdimai is a trio working in the fields of contemporary music and improvisation. Their practice brings together experimental music, performance, theatre, film, and other interdisciplinary art forms, with their performances often developing into intense sonic experiences shaped by improvisation.

Budrugana Lietuva is a professional theatre company that incorporates the rare technique of hand shadow theatre into its performances. The company also develops and shares this practice through its theatre studio, creative workshops, and the “Išlaisvink šešėlį” theatre camps.
